The Gesto dell’Ombrello collection was created through a collaboration between the social enterprise Terra di Tutti and the cooperative Design With. It is an eco-social design project based on participatory processes and the creative reuse of discarded materials, specifically, used umbrellas donated by the local community.

Using a material-driven approach, Design With led the development of concepts and prototypes by carefully analyzing the characteristics of umbrella fabric. The triangular segment of the umbrella canopy was adopted as the foundational design module, allowing for minimal cutting and textile waste. Each product is the result of mindful design, where the material itself defines the shape.

The collection includes four versatile and functional items:

• Laptop sleeve

• Multifunctional cushion

• Luggage organizer

• Shopper bag

The aesthetic of the collection is defined by dynamic diagonal lines and contrasting accessories such as colorful zippers, which enhance the visual identity of each product. Every item is accompanied by a transparent statement on the amount of recycled material used, clearly showing how many umbrellas were repurposed to create it.
